Aviation Week Laureate Awards Gala 2010 took place at Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium in Washington DC. Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium is a grand rental hall for wedding receptions, gala dinners, and conferences and boasts 14 large columns and 65 foot ceilings. For over 50 years, this prestigious awards ceremony honors tomorrow's young leaders and those nominees who have contributed to civil, military and commercial aviation and aerospace. It also included the Aviation Week Heroism Award which honors the flight crew of US Airways 1549 in emergency landing their airplane in the Hudson River and saving everyone on board. Aviation Week is a division of McGraw-Hill Companies and is the largest multimedia information and services provider for the global aviation, aerospace and defense industries with over 1.2 million readers. Sponsors included industry leaders BAE Systems, Boeing, Cobham, Dassault Systemes, ITT Corporation, L-3 Communications, Northrop Grumman Corporation and Sandel Avionics.
